The Help commentary
1963. In the city of Jackson, Mississippi, during the
segregation between blacks and whites, Aibeleen Clark, an African-American maid,
tells her life and facts she was confronted with in the book of Eugenia
“Skeeter” Phelan who dreams to become a writer. During the movie, Skeeter meets
a lot of persons such as Minny or Yule
May who are other maids. Elizabeth Leefolt who is Skeeter’s friend and
Aibeleen’s employer, hates black people.
All along the movie we’ll see the fight for equality between blacks and whites
led by Skeeter…
The movie is
really deep, talking about the racist society in the South America, The Help is
one of the most controversial movie that we know. When the author released her
book, the fight for equality between blacks and whites became more powerful. This
movie that shows the real fact, the story of the authors of this book, triggers
our sentiments, our emotions gives us a clear insight into the black maid’s
life. The Help show a hard reality where people of black skin had no rights, no
future and were discriminated. The movie show as well some history facts like
Martin Luther King speak. The movie is a movie that helps people to advance,
and not fall again into this type of discrimination …
There are
various interesting scenes to talk about in this movie but here we are going to
comment the moment when Yule Male Ying is being arrested by Jackson’s police at
her bus stop. This scene is a turning
point in the movie; black maids realize that they need to write the book
because they want Skeeter to change their situation. They have nothing to lose.
This scene also shows as well the hatred of white people towards black people.
It shows a racist and unfair society against people of black skin in the South
of America. The movie shows a certain point of view. In fact we can criticize
this movie because this scene isn’t neutral.

We already like this scene, of curse it's a turning point of this wonderful moovie ! That's a good choice ;)
