THE HELP
Synopsis
The
help is a movie directed by Tate Taylor based on the novel of Kathryn
Stockett.
The
movie came out in 2011 in USA.
The
scene takes place in Mississippi during racial segregation, in 60'S.
The
main characters are Skeeter, the main female white, she wants to
become writer.
Aibileen
is a black woman, she is warm hearted and ill-treated by her
employers.
There
are others characters like Minny Jackson, Celia Foot and Hilly
Holbrook.
In
the movie the situation is very difficult because the problem of
segregation put barriers between blacks and whites.
To
solve this problem, Skeeter interviews blacks women who have spent
their lives taking care of prominent southern families.
Althougt,
in the historical context, to solve this problem the president John
Kennedy fought against the racial segregation. He had launched a
program to improve the living conditions of the most deprived as well
as the civil rights of the Black-American citizens.
Critique
du film
The
movie is very interesting because it shows the real conditions of the
blacks women during the segregation. For the students, this movie can
brings an important historical knowledge. The Help looks very realist
and credible.
There
are some scenes which arouses violent feelings. For instance, the
scene on the bus whose Yule May is arrested by the policemen because
she steels a ring in her employers's house. It important for the
progress of the movie because it's the moment whose the maid are
decided to rebell against the whites families. As we said of the
beginning, the scene is useful for show the aspect of the violence on
the blacks maid women.
Despite
that, we enjoyed watch The Help, because there are nice moments like
the moment whose Minny brings a (shit) pie to Hilly Holbrook.
Although,
there are emotional moments as the scene with Mae Mobley and Aibileen
at the end whose Elizabeth Leefolt send her. The little girl cry
because she doesn't want that Aibileen leaves the house.
Choix
argumenté d'une scène
We
have chosen the scene in which Aibileen is talking to Skeeter about
her dead son.
In
this scene, Aibileen is explaining that her son is dead because of
his whites employers. She is saying that a woman is making his son on
a truck to go on color hospital. When he is arriving on hospital, the
dotors said: " We can't do anything" Aibileen wants to get
his son in her house for his last moments and he died in front her.
He
was just 24 years old. Each year, the day of his birthday, Aibileen
can't breathe. She says that she would like to jump off a bridge.
Aibileen
wants to stop all that they wrote.
This
scene allows us to be more close than Aibileen. We love this scene
because it is very emotional and important in the film.

It's a very interesting summary of this moovie, we also like the part of the scene critic :)
